Our youth today are faced with more challenges than ever before; lack of self-knowledge, social issues, depression, and continued peer pressure. Some students have shared that they do not see a connection between their academic learning and the practical applications of it in their lives. In addition, Middle and High School students suddenly faced more complex schedules and tougher academic work. How can we help students manage it all?

The answer is a system that teaches character development and life planning skills by setting and achieving positive goals while making positive decisions.

THE PROCESS

Visualizing Your Dreams” takes students through a complete step-by-step “process.” to take control over their personal development. The program components include:

Defining Who You Are—Taking a Personal Inventory:

Students will tap into their inner strengths and talents and discover what makes them special and unique. Students will begin to look at how their interests and strengths will assist them in identifying their goals and discovering their future careers.

Designing and Developing Your Goals:

Students will get clarity regarding their personal and career goals along with defining the results they want to achieve.

Action Plan Development:

Students will set goals and develop strategies for reaching them as well as become life-long learners who are able to handle success and pitfalls.

Time Management:

Students will focus on time management to help prepare them for time demands of school, work and family as well as learning the consequences of doing nothing (hanging around). This step will assist Students to prioritize and plan their time effectively and efficiently.

THE TOOLS

The Teacher’s Manual, Student Journal and the Professional Development Component are the key delivery vehicles for the program. This comprehensive curriculum along with assessments and academic measurements assists in developing students’ personal and academic growth. Our tailored professional development component is an integral tool that aids in the management of the program.

THE TEACHER’S MANUAL

The Personal Development Process’ Teacher’s Manual gives educators a designed curriculum including lesson plans, units and student activities that are appropriate for their students’ diverse needs. This curriculum consists of strategies for teaching personal development, appropriate instructional methods and materials, and a professional development component.

THE STUDENT JOURNAL

Students will have their own personal “Student Journal” with personal growth activities that will assist them in creating a vision, nurturing confidence and developing a personal road map to success. Students will define who they are, set goals and devise action plans, while creating personal guidelines and breaking down roadblocks. The journal provides a complete college information guide and activities to develop student’s leadership skills and career awareness.
